Shell Fragment - Gloss White

These earrings are made by hand from natural clay in my small home studio in Muizenberg, Cape Town. I roll out a clay slab, cut out all the shapes with a knife, refine the forms, hand-paint colours and details and then glaze, with two firings in the process. This means each piece is entirely unique and it's impossible to make again. 14K Gold-filled shepherd hooks finish the piece, ensuring a lifetime of wear. Gold-filled is different to gold-plated, in that the brass metal core is thickly coated in gold under high pressure, creating a strong bond. The gold will not tarnish or flake off. If you can wear gold jewellery, you will not have any allergic reaction to the gold-filled wire.  My ceramic designs are made with wearability in mind, each piece is made to not be too heavy on the ear and to ensure your comfort. While care should be taken while transporting and taking on and off, these small acts of kindness towards your hand-crafted accessory can ensure a long-lived relationship.
